Love Complete.

“Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good. We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.” -1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬-‭13‬ ‭(msg)

What we know is incomplete - our knowledge will always be incomplete. Our completeness of thought comes of and from knowing Him… from being His. What we do in this world will fade away, but what we do in and for Love will never die. No matter how right we think we are or how big we can make something look, if there is no Love, whatever it was will not last.

Paul encourages us here to grow up in Christ… to learn to Love… not based on emotion or how something serves us, but genuinely love, trusting in God, hoping in His promise of redemption, His promise of making all things Good - and from here (from His Love in us) we love extravagantly. So when all the chaff from our lives here is blown away, we will find that Jesus, the stone of Love, was truly the cornerstone for all the self-less, unconditional, surety-in-God Love that was poured out in this world. And in the end, that will be all that stands. Love Complete.
